A long time ago, in 1954, Senator Lyndon Johnson forced a bill to be passed that made it illegal for non-profits, including churches, to take political positions. Amazingly, nobody fought it. They all just acquiesced.
Until this last Sunday, that is. Over 1,000 churches placed politics squarely into sermons, and sent videos and copies of their sermons to the IRS, daring the IRS to retaliate by revoking non-profit status, as the law stipulates. They are convinced that the law is unconstitutional. Better 58 years late than never.
