What a week it was. A bombing that defied all reason.
The vote against expanded gun “control”, which made perfect sense until the press got a hold on it. Now, it seems that anything said against the various gun control initiatives are somehow heretic.
I am appalled at this thinking. We, as a country, have literally thousands of gun laws on the books right now. And just what good did they do at VA Tech, Ft Hood, Sandy Hook, Or Boston, to name but a few? None.
I am not alone in this thinking. A piece from Human Events is here as amplification.
Somewhere along the line, we have to start acting like grown ups.
In the post of last night, we looked at the heavy hand of cronyism, and the influence of the big financial companies in mis-managing the food stamp program(s), and helping to apply rather perverse incentives that result in an ever widening client base. Also known as a growing dependency class.
So, with all this money, all of the outlets that accept EBT, and all of the people involved, you might be tempted to think that this a carefully monitored and investigated program. Right? Wrong! There are fewer than 100 people guarding against fraud in this system that has more than 47 Million clients. The article that supports this claim is here.
Pretty bad, huh? Yes, I certainly agree. But if that is bad, how much worse is it for the other 125 welfare programs that the government manages to keep around? Yes, there are that many. See it here.
We have the government that we deserve. We let it grow because the ruling class wants it big – and growing. And both parties are to blame. And, in the end, so are we.
I knew that this was coming. It was advertised by Fox, Breitbart, and, to a lesser extend be the “Government Accountability Project” (Peter Schweitzer). The focus is in Food Stamps (at least primarily). But the number of articles have grown to be too large to handle at one reading.
So, I am going to divide them up. And release them two at a time. I am trying to make this very important and involved subject at least partly palatable. But the articles are more than a bit involved.
The starting point is the Corporate involvement in Food Stamps, and why it matters. That article is here. The follow on is the underlying crony-ism that subverts the entire system. That article is here.
Makes you proud to be an American, Eh? No, me neither.
If you are keeping track, this is the ninth attempt at amnesty since Regan. And guess what. None have worked, and none can.
Witness this one. Announce a possible amnesty, and what happens? Go to the head of the class. Illegal crossings double or worse. The story is here.
But it gets even better. It seems that the Mexican Cartels are preparing, or maybe in action already, trying to get ahead of us. Maybe way ahead. Read that one here.
But, herein we have a huge problem. As long as we think that some version of “amnesty” will solve anything, let alone everything, please look a little deeper. The Mexican drug cartels have already killed over 60,000, and they are now a part of the US national fabric.
